Springbank Estate is nestled on an old stony river terrace situated at the foot of the majestic Seaward Kaikoura ranges where the mountains meet the sea, Kaikoura, New Zealand.
The Owner of Springbank Estate is a proud Welshman, Allan Davies, affectionately know to all his peers as Taffy. Taffy was born in Wales but has spent the last 50 years in New Zealand. Welsh people are by their nature passionate, creative and expressive, famous for singing, storytelling and acting, this is very true of Taffy.

It is our pleasure to extend an extra special welsh “croeso i chi” – Welcome to you. Springbank Estate and “the Old Wine Barn” are open in the Summer from November 1st until Easter, we open 6 days a week (Closed Mondays) for vineyard tours and cellar door tastings.

 

A picturesque little spot under Mt Fyffe, there are plenty of reasons to visit “the Old Wine Barn” at Springbank Estate. Sampling a chilled wine in our sunny courtyard looking up to the magnificent Mt Fyffe or relaxing inside the old rustic barn - there is always an interesting chat to be had with Taffy when you wander around the property or observe the boutique winery processing line.

Taste of Springbank

 

A selection of six from the Springbank Estate wines (Breidecker, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Rose and Pinot Noir), which are poured as 50ml tasting measures. The winemaker provides an insight into the wines and lets you enjoy the unique characteristics of the Kaikoura "terroir" that makes this region a good place to grow grapes.

A vineyard tour, explaining the various trellis options, vineyard management techniques, our secret to producing great wines and a look at the production cycle and wine-making stages. This is finished with a ‘Taste of Springbank’.
